5-15-08 EARLY LIMITS AGAIN!!! |

Today I had Cathy and Ernest from Canada. Cathy works with the central reservation center that handles the reservations for the Lighthouse Inn. It was a quick start with 8 fish before the sun came up. We then made a run to Mud and finished our limit by 11:00. These folks had never been to Texas or fished in the Gulf, but they caught on quick and filled the box easily. |

Charles and Lindy Bell fishied with me today and Lindy showed her lucky colors by boxing the first 4 or 5 fish. Charles caught more, but Lindy ended up with a nice 25 inch trout going a little over 5 lbs. We finished our limit of 20 by 10:30 or so. We tried to catch and release a few more, but the dolphins ate every fish we hooked up after we had our limit. Again, great people, great fishing and a good time was had by all. |

I had John Spencer and Charles Schmidt again today for a short morning trip. They were due to check out by noon so we did what we could in the time that we had. Charles started out strong again today catching the first few trout. John made a run at it today, but I think Charles took the title. We ended up with 18 out of 20 and we were back at the dock by 11:15. I really enjoyed these guys today and I look forward to seeing them again in the future. |

5-12-08 "Call Me When the Trout Turn On" |

I have been talking with John Spencer from Houston about catching some nice trout for about 2 weeks and I figured it was about time to make the call. He and Charles Schmidt made the drive down on short notice and it was well worth it. Today we left at about 3:00 and only had a few hours to fish. We went to Mud and caught 11 nice trout before sunset. I am fishing with these same guys in the morning and I think we can clean up pretty quick. It is really cool to see someone so interested in all the different aspects of fishing. John has been in steady contact with me and he has shown some real interst that a lot of people don't have. I know they enjoyed this evening and they are looking forward to tomorrow. |

I was part of a 6 boat trip today and the weather was BAD today. A strong front hit about 9:15 and it ran a few of the guides off the water really early. My 2 guys were from Norway so a little wind and rain didn't bother them at all. After the wind really started cranking, we caught their 6 reds and 3 trout over 23 by 10:30. It was nice to see these guys catch some good fish and to be done early today. LIMITS AGAIN. |

I love to return to Cove Harbor in the late spring when the trout bite really turns on. There's nothing like hearing " go back up North" at 5:00 in the morning. Well, I follow the bite and when it is on here, I fish here- Too bad for them!!! Anyways, I was with Brian Christensen and his group today. Again it was a short day as they had a date on the beach with the kids for the afternoon. We got on fish fast and it stayed that way. We were back at the dock by 11:00 with 16 BIG trout in the box. I am fishing with Brian again in June and I am looking forward to seeing them again. |
