REDFISH! REDFISH! REDFISH!   I decided I was going to catch redfish today and give the trout a break.  I went back to where I first started catching fish in this area.  I hadn't fished this bay in quite a while and I wanted to see if it still had the bite it used to.  It Does!  It took me a few different stops to get on the fish, but when I did, it was good.  My friend and I came prepared witrh all different kinds of bait, but it was the cut crab that prevailed.  We were throwing towards a grass line and as soon as the bait was out, we had a fish on the line.  We were fishing just before a front and the fish were going crazy.  I even caught a big trout on a piece of cut crab (that is a first!).  I kept bumping down the grass picking up a couple of fish each time.  After about 15 minutes, I would move down some more.  At the end of the day, we got on a strong trout bite, but the sun was dropping and it was time to go.  I will definately be fishing here again soon.

Another cold start today.  The water temp was around 46 this morning and the bite was slow.  The usual spots just weren't producing.  I had a great group of guys who were willing to hang on until the water warmed up a bit.  My youngest client today was 14 and I think he was just happy to be fishing instead of at school.  Around 11:00 the water was warming up to about 52.  This was just warm enough to turn on some fish.  I was on a patch of sheel that I didn't usually fish when the fishing got hot.  We filled the box about halfway up in about 30 minutes.  We continued to bounce around from reef to reef only to find a fish here and a fish there.  I decided to go back to the very first spot of the day now that the water had warmed up.  It was just as I had hoped for.  The action was fast and furious for all of us.  We decided we were done when we had to start putting fish into the drink ice chest and throwing some back due to limits.  At the dock, we counted our fish.  We had 4 limits if really BIG sheepshead and 20 trout.  The afternoon bite is much better this time of year because it gives the water a little time to warm up.  GOOD DAY and LOTS OF FISH!!!

Today was a cold and windy day.  I had the pleasure of taking my Dad, Connor and Chris out for a day of fishing in the new boat.  It was sunny in the morning with moderate wind.  We got out to the first spot and within 20 minutes, Connor was complaining about his ears hurting.  There wasn't much discussion about it, we knew we had to turn back.  After dropping Connor off, we got back on the water about 1:45. By this time, the wind had picked a lot and fishing seemed hopeless, but we made the cold run out to the reef anyways.  I think everyone really wanted to go home, but we were all to stubborn to not catch fish.  And catch fish we did!  We got on a good bite and managed to pull some nice fish in fast.  My Dad wrestled in a few big sheepshead and some nice trout.  Chris seemed to catch a fish on every throw.  When we got back to the dock, we had to only box of fish there.  We brought back 11 trout, 5 sheepshead and 1 drum.  It was a hard day on the water, but we made it count after all.  I look forward to taking my Dad again on a better weather day.  I guess he got to see how the boat handles in rough water.  Overall, the day was a success.  We fought the weather and some time contraints to catch a nice box of fish.

Today we hammered the fish!!  I took some friends from Victoria this morning and it was just about as good as it gets.  We left early and got to the reef by about 7:15.  Instantly, it was FISH ON!  We had several double and triple hook ups.  After about 30 minutes, we made a short move and the action was the same here.  After about an hour of fishing, we had 28 trout in the box and we went looking for some drum or redfish.  This next reef was still red hot and we quickly put our 15 drum in the box.  Ken was consistent  with the big fish.  All of his fish were really big and fiesty.  The approaching artic front gave the fish a little extra fight.  At 10:30 we had 28 trout and 15 drum.  I asked them if they wanted to go look for some redfish and they responded by saying "I'm too tired to catch another fish".  With this said , I knew it was a job well done and time to head home.  I won't be fishing for the next few days as the temps are supposed to be in the 40's with a strong north wind, but I plan to hit it again next week.  Remember-  I FIND 'EM ...  YOU CATCH 'EM!!!!

Today was a beautiful day to be on the water.  With the crowds from Thanksgiving gone, we had the water to ourselves.  The bay was calm and glassy as we left this morning and we made good time to the first hole.  The first 7 casts produced 7 nice sized drum.  Then Forest started catching his deep water trout.  His unique rig and enthusiam made this a lot of fun.  A couple of big sheepshead were holding here also.  We bumped around from spot to spot, picking up a few fish with each stop.  Forest managed several nice trout up to 3 lbs. and by 11:30 we had a very nice box of fish.  Watching Forest trying to fish 2 rods and do the "Forest shuffle" on a steady bite, made for a good trip.  We ended up with 8 drum, 8 trout and 7 big sheepshead.  GREAT HALF DAY TRIP!!

boy with fishToday was a last minute trip with the family.  Cindy, Connor and I left Goose Island at about 8:30 and arrived at the first hole just in time to anchor up before a group of waders pulled up.  As soon as we put the first rod in the water, it was fish on!!  Cindy held true to her form and caught the most fish.  She managed to put several nice trout in the box here and then the waders got to close and the bite stopped.  Connor also caught some keepers here.  We looked around for a while before we found a steady bite again.  This time it was big sheepshead and lots of them.  We had 9 in about 30 minutes.  The next spot held some more trout and 7 nice drum.  All in all, we had 9 sheepshead, 9 trout and 7 drum.  I loved fishing with my family and I was so glad to take Cindy fishing again!!!
