7-23-07 Big Trout and Big Sharks |

Eddie Escamilla hired me for the next 3 days. Today we started out in the bay with no wind. We tried to drift, but we weren't moving. His nephew did catch a monster 8 lb. trout before my phone rang. I was told that the surf was flat. We packed it up, gassed the boat back up, and headed to Cedar Bayou. There was all kinds of action, but the trout bite was a little slow. We quickly realized the big blacktips were in. After getting broke off severeal times, I retied with a steel leader and it was ON!. We pulled anchor and chased a 7 ft. blacktip Shark for the better part of an hour. With no gaff on board, it was a task to land the fish, but we did. With the sun setting and a monster shark tied over the frone of the boat, we headed in. They decided to take tomorrow off, but Wednesday looks very promising.
