Today was the annual Babes on the Bay tournament. I had Michelle, Lora, MJ, and Laci from the Lighthouse Inn team. These ladies are so much fun to fish with. I have fished with all of them before and I always look forward to seeing them on the water. We started out boxing a few nice trout as the sun broke the horizon. We made a run across the bay where Lora caught a reallt nice trout. We picked up 9 more trout before they decided it was time to go look for redfish. This tournament consists of 3 trout and 1 red for the heaviest stringer. We made several stops for reds with no luck at all. Just as we were fixing to leave an area we had seen a lot of baitfish activity, Michelle said she thought there was a fish right up on the grassline. I made a move over and we quickly missed a good fish. It was 2:55 and we had 5 more minutes to find a red before we had to head in to make the weigh in time. Michelle's pole started to wiggle and she waited for about 30 seconds until the fish ate the bait it then she smacked it hard. I knew instantly it was a red and she played it perfect. It was a nice 25 inch fish. We rushed over to the weigh in and just barely made it. All said and done, we came in 23rd out of a total of 205 teams. It was a much better time this year and the girls did great. I really look forward to this trip and I hope to see the girls again next year.
