It was a rainy morning and all we could do was watch and wait. We had my Dad, Brother, and some of my Dad's cousins coming in from Corpus to fish. The rain went on longer than expected, but we finally made it out. Mike and Sterling Kelly brought their Blue Wave in to do a "piggy back" trip. It was 3:00 before we got away. We stopped in Mud Bay first and the bite was slow. The old guys had us beat with 1 fish in the box. My boat had Alan, Big Chris, Little Chris, Connor, and myself. We headed over to a small bay in front of San Antonio Bay and found a bite of nice sized trout. The young guys quickly took the lead with some solid trout. About this time, I heard the splashing of mullet being chased. I quickly put down the trolling motor and got ahead of the fish. We were quickly hooked up with 2 fat redfish. One of these fish was a solid tournament fish going 27 in and fat as could be. When we cleaned the fish, we found a 12 inch mullet in it's belly. The old guys ended up with 3 trout and we had 6 solid trout and 2 big reds. It was a great time with family on the water even though the weather made it a short trip.
