Another cold start today. The water temp was around 46 this morning and the bite was slow. The usual spots just weren't producing. I had a great group of guys who were willing to hang on until the water warmed up a bit. My youngest client today was 14 and I think he was just happy to be fishing instead of at school. Around 11:00 the water was warming up to about 52. This was just warm enough to turn on some fish. I was on a patch of sheel that I didn't usually fish when the fishing got hot. We filled the box about halfway up in about 30 minutes. We continued to bounce around from reef to reef only to find a fish here and a fish there. I decided to go back to the very first spot of the day now that the water had warmed up. It was just as I had hoped for. The action was fast and furious for all of us. We decided we were done when we had to start putting fish into the drink ice chest and throwing some back due to limits. At the dock, we counted our fish. We had 4 limits if really BIG sheepshead and 20 trout. The afternoon bite is much better this time of year because it gives the water a little time to warm up. GOOD DAY and LOTS OF FISH!!!
